Planet moves to Richterswil

In order to expand its leading market position in Switzerland and to position itself securely as one unit in the market for the future, ASSA ABLOY (Schweiz) AG will completely migrate the Planet business unit to the headquarters in Richterswil in the coming year. With the move, the expert in locking and security systems for all aspects of the door aims to combine the expertise at the Swiss headquarters in the long term and bring the areas even closer together.

After moving out of Tagelswangen, ASSA ABLOY (Schweiz) AG will be represented with two large production sites in Switzerland. To date, ASSA ABLOY has developed and manufactured the traditional KESO locking systems at its headquarters in Richterswil. KESO is synonymous with innovative locking solutions, which are distinguished, among other things, by the world-famous cylinders. From 2022, Richterswil will also be the development and production site for the innovative Planet drop-down seals and the Planet finger protection® range. The second production site in Kleinlützel, on the other hand, stands for the development and production of high-quality security, panic and electromechanical mortise locks as well as multi-point locking systems from the well-known MSL product brand. The Kleinlützel site also serves as a central warehouse for all products from Switzerland.

Securing the future of "Swissness"

100 percent innovations from Switzerland are internationally regarded as a very strong quality criterion. ASSA ABLOY customers also benefit from the fact that the KESO, MSL and Planet product portfolio is developed and produced directly in Switzerland – close to the customers. To ensure that this remains the case within the globalised industrial world, in addition to further modernisations in production technology, the relocation of the Planet Business Unit to Richterswil is an important measure for securing the manufacturer’s location in Switzerland. Dominique Osstyn, Chief Executive Officer at ASSA ABLOY (Schweiz) AG, explains: "In Richterswil, our automated production processes are well advanced and already very well established. Another significant advantage is the ability to react quickly and flexibly to high workload peaks and special customer requests, so that they can act even more quickly and agilely."

Planet employees will also benefit from these advantages at the headquarters in future and be relieved in other areas too. In order to continue the unique success story of Planet, the management in Richterswil would like to recruit as many employees as possible for the change process and is currently setting the course for a smooth relocation and the seamless resumption of Planet production in Richterswil.
